Overview

We undertook this substantial project in November 2022 until its completion in September 2024. Located in Hammersmith west London.

NSP worked with our client consulting on the anti-corrosion, architectural powder coat specifications and processes to this complex and highly visual works. A multi-million-pound development by Ardmore Group this project involved delivering high-quality coatings for large-scale residential structures. NSP Coatings worked closely with Paddington Construction to ensure a durable and visually striking finish delivered on time to thorough specifications.

The works consisted of balcony bases weighing in at 1.1T each plus privacy screens, balustrade and connecting frameworks all finished in a standout Akzo Nobel D1036 RAL 3016 30% mat finish red.

The Challenge

  • Very heavy with many asymmetric steel components
  • Environmental conditions were urban and high traffic
  • Technical requirements including corrosion resistance with a high-end cosmetic finish
  • Tight deadlines for site access and crane handling
  • In depth quality control of components in and out going

The project required coating a large volume of balconies, balustrade and structures exposed to harsh weather conditions, with a finish that needed to be both durable and visually consistent across the development.

The Solution

  • Preparation method grit blasting to SA3 standard
  • Coating system used hot zinc spray, architectural powder coating
  • Using NSP’s own developed specialist product Ultra60
  • QA and process control digitally recorded for traceability
  • Transport and logistics support

NSP Coatings applied a full system including grit blasting, hot zinc spray for corrosion protection, followed by our powder coating system to achieve a consistent and guaranteed long-lasting finish.

Over 80 balconies were coated, delivering a durable finish designed to withstand long-term exposure in an urban environment. The project has become a standout feature within the development.
