What Is A2 Fire Rated Powder Coating?

A2 is the highest available classification for organic powder coating systems under the EN 13501-1: Reaction to Fire standard. This test ensures that powder coatings used on architectural elements such as cladding, facades, balustrades, and interior features are safe in the event of a fire.

The Three-Part Classification

  1. Combustibility: A2 = non-combustible
  2. Smoke Emission: s1 = minimal smoke release
  3. Flaming Droplets: d0 = no flaming droplets or particles
