Cleaning
NSP
Coatings Ltd carry out degreasing and shot blasting for
both applications that require coating as well as stand
alone jobs. Some examples are detailed below. |
 |
Shot
Blast Only |
|
 |
These
sheet metal and tube components have been shot blasted
to Sa2.5 standard with chilled iron grit in order to provide
a rough surface and key prior to coating at the customers
premises. Surface abrasion is often required for providing
a better bond between the coat and the metal.

 |
Degreasing |
|
 |
To
remove the protective oil that protects sheet metal during
storage as well as the oils applied during the punch, fold
and fabrication processes sheet metal products are cleansed
using a vapour degreaser prior to powder coating or wet
spraying.

Aluminium
Castings Cleaning |
|
 |
We
carry out blast work on new aluminium castings prior to
anodising. The blasting removes wax or sand deposits as
well as smoothing burrs and excess aluminium left behind
from the casting process. An example of more recent work
in this area includes the blasting of hose tips for fire
fighting equipment. |

Car & Motorcycle
Wheels |
|
 |
We
offer a wheel cleaning service for cars and bikes, shot
blasting existing paint, rust, corrosion and providing
a well etched surface for a coating. This service is available
to the trade as well as the general public although all
tyres and tubes must be removed and in the case of motorcycle
wheels all bearings, seals and hub units must be removed
prior to coating. Available finishes include gloss, matt,
metallic and lacquer.

Gates |
|
 |
The
two gates show the before and after of the shot blasting
process. The cleaning process removes paint, rust, grease,
corrosion and dirt leaving the surface clean with a well
etched surface suitable for powder coating or wet spraying.
Most metalwork that is shot blasted requires coating within
4 hours, depending on the humidity, in order to seal the
bare surface from oxidation and the initiation of corrosion.
